A volunteer from Jammu Province sent us documents of Baby Pueesh, an underprivileged child, who was 20 months plus at that time, suffering from Tetralogy of Fallot , a cyanotic heart disease and looked dark blue in color.
We found his documents contained prescriptions and work ups from a number of referral Centers inside and outside Jammu and Kashmir. Our medical board advised urgent surgical intervention in his favour. We arranged his surgical treatment at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences Kochi under the sponsorship of LWB Children’s Foundation.
We gave him a priority over other 8 children who were already waiting for their turn, as he was sick and needed to be attended urgently.
We arranged air tickets for the family and flew him to Amrita, where he was evaluated and found to be too sick, therefore admitted immediately to ICU and resuscitation treatment started. He was stabilized with platelet transfusion and antibiotics, along with proper nutrition for some days.
He was found to be suitable for an interventional cardiology procedure not an open-heart surgery, where his right ventricular outlet was stented, and blood flow restored to his lungs
Interestingly the concerned Charity didn’t seem keen in financing the procedure as it was going to be a staged surgery. Our foundation arranged funds and paid for Pueesh’s treatment.
Baby Puresh’s transformation from a dark blue boy to fair handsome looking child in a matter of 2 days was unimaginable. We couldn’t recognize him. His appetite improved and he started eating multiple meals a day.
Now he’s back to his home in Jammu, living happily and growing well with his parents, who feel so much indebted to the efforts of our health foundation in getting their child treated in time.
We will plan his surgery in another year or so
